Favorites to win 2022 Daytona 500 odds

Denny Hamlin (+900).  Hamlin’s history at the Daytona International Speedway is a legendary one. Among active drivers, he has the most career wins on that track with three. Hamlin first had the sweet taste of success at Daytona in 2016 when he beat all drivers to capture that year’s Daytona 500 in dominant fashion. He would repeat that feat three years later then again in 2020. In all those races, Hamlin did not get a starting position better than 10th. He will be in the 30th starting position this Sunday, but that might not matter at all for Hamlin, who’s proven time and time again how good he can be on such an unpredictable track. In 64 career appearances on superspeedways, Hamlin has collected a total of five wins, 20 top 5s, and 26 top 10s despite an average starting position of 16.1.

Ryan Blaney (+1200). Blaney has got to be in the conversation of the favorites to win The Great American Race this Sunday. For one, he won the last time he revved his engine at the Daytona International Speedway, which was just in August 2021. That was when he made the rest of the field eat his machine’s dust by winning that year’s edition of the Coke Zero 400. That’s not just the only strong performance Blaney has had at the said track, as he has three top 5s and five top 10s in the 13 times he’s appeared there, so far in his NASCAR Cup Series career. While there are some lowlights among those 13 starts for Blaney, his overall performance is solid based on the fact that he owns a 13.63 career average finish at the Daytona International Speedway.

Kyle Larson (+1200). As if being the reigning NASCAR Cup Series isn’t enough, Larson’s status as a driver to watch out for this Sunday gets a major boost by winning the 2022 Daytona 500 pole. He will be starting in the front row together with Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman. Last season, Larson took the NASCAR Cup Series by storm, winning 10 races and cracking the top 10 a total of 26 times in 36 races. Although he has to win at the Daytona International Speedway, Larson has come close to taking home the checkered flag there on multiple occasions. He’s finished 10th in two of his last three starts on that track. His best finish at Daytona is sixth, which was during the 2016 Coke Zero 400.

Sleepers to win 2022 Daytona 500 odds

Corey Lajoie (+5500).  At his current price to win the 2022 Daytona 500, Lajoie is definitely someone that should be getting more attention from bettors. He hasn’t won anything yet at Daytona, but he’s also not been bad there overall. Outside of a 40th finish in the 2018 Daytona 500 and a 31st place in the 2018 Coke Zero 400, Lajoie looked more than decent in most other races. In fact, Lajoie has made it to the top 10 in three of his past five starts at the Daytona International Speedway.

Michael McDowell (+5500). McDowell was a massive long shot in 2021, but he defied the odds and win the most recent Daytona 500 – his first Cup win after over 350 races. Well, McDowell is looking to make history again, as he’s in the position to become one of the few drivers to have ever won the Daytona 500 back to back. He’s already shown a sign that he could be in for a strong race Sunday, having finished with the fastest lap in a practice at Daytona International Speedway, earlier this week.

Final 2022 Daytona 500 Prediction & Pick

I’m going with Ryan Blaney, who’s just been a strong driver at Daytona always. He’s got the momentum, as he’s won his most recent appearance on this track. Plus, he has a nice-looking trend going for him over his past few starts at the Daytona International Speedway since 2020. This will be Blaney’s time to shine at Daytona.

FINAL 2022 Daytona 500 PREDICTION: Ryan Blaney (+1200)
