World Series storylines

Throughout the course of the MLB Postseason, teams have made quick work of their opponents. That was until the Championship Series. Both the ALCS and the NLCS were/have been electric series that went to Game 7.

In the ALCS, the Rangers beat the Houston Astros. The Rangers not only advanced to the World Series for the first time since 2011, but they also prevented the Astros from making their third straight World Series appearance. The Rangers went to and lost back-to-back World Series back in 2010-11.

This postseason, the Rangers bats have been on fire, and they have plenty of momentum going into the World Series. Five players who have played in the majority of their postseason games are batting over .289, and three of them are over .300. Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia and Evan Carter are those three players, the former two of which are two of the biggest stars in the MLB.

Seager has had a historic playoff run already. Seager drew a postseason record five walks in one game en route to nine in the ALDS and 12 in the playoffs overall. Combined with his .333 playoff batting average, Seager is a threat to get on base every time he comes up to bat. This is even more scary considering he is one of the most dangerous players in baseball on the basepaths.

Garcia has played villain in these playoffs, and he has done it well. His antics have gotten him booed, but they haven't stopped him from being one of the best players in October. He has seven home runs in the postseason, three of which came during a six at-bat stretch to end the ALCS. His five homers and one grand slam in the ALCS earned him Championship Series MVP honors.

The team came into the playoffs with little pitching help, but that is not the case anymore. Max Scherzer and Jon Gray were both injured coming into the postseason, but they are both back and give the Rangers enough front-end firepower to out pitch whichever teams comes out of the National League.

As for the Diamondbacks, they have proven to be the grittiest team in the MLB Playoffs. The Phillies had a better record against them, and after the Philadelphia franchise took a 2-0 lead in the NLCS, everyone thought it was over for Arizona. However, Corbin Carroll and co. showed they wouldn't back down even with the odds stacked against them.

In the end, the Diamondbacks won four of their last five meetings with the Phillies, including the last two games on the road. With the team brimming with confidence, they'll surely be a tough opponent for the Rangers.

The Rangers had a better regular season record than the Diamondbacks, so they have been awarded home-field advantage. The Rangers – a five seed – had not had home-field advantage yet in these playoffs, but they will in the World Series. With that said, who do you think will win it all?
