In a surprising turn of events, the Houston Texans have parted ways with head coach David Culley. After just one year, with a rather putrid roster, Houston has decided they'd be better off with someone else leading the team. We go over some of the Texans' best head-coaching candidates as Houston aims to improve the franchise as a whole.

There isn't much to be excited about when it comes to Houston's roster or cap space. However, it's still likely the front office trades Deshaun Watson, which would bring in a haul of draft picks. It'll be a ton of work for whoever the Texans hire, but hopefully, they have the full support from the organization, unlike David Culley.

The Texans will go through an extensive interview process, but they're likely to act quickly. This is a crucial moment for this franchise, as Houston hopes to get back into playoff contention soon. With that said, here are three of the Texans' best head-coaching candidates after firing David Culley.

Texans Best Head Coaching Candidates

3. Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore has been a popular name amongst the coaching carousel. He's been a solid offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys and seems ready for the next step. The NFL has had a wave of young candidates become head coaches and the Texans could be the next to follow suit.

Moore would be an excellent choice for Houston. He'd have his first shot at proving himself as the leader of a team. Not to mention, he brings an impressive resume to the table as he's been a fantastic coordinator for the Cowboys. Having an offensive mind shape the Texans' offense is crucial, as this roster is bound to acquire a ton of young talent this upcoming offseason.

2. Eric Bieniemy

It feels like every year Eric Bieniemy's name is mentioned as someone who deserves to be a head coach. However, he still finds himself as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, which isn't a bad gig either. Even so, Bieniemy has all of the potential in the world to be a fantastic head coach and is ready for an opportunity (he's been ready for quite a while). This is a hire the Texans should be seeking before the start of the offseason.

Eric Bieniemy brings everything the Texans have been missing the last several years. He comes from a winning organization, knows how to coach and develop a championship contender, and is a true leader amongst his peers. If Houston is serious about getting back into playoff contention one day, the front office should highly consider Bieniemy as their next head coach.

1. Brian Flores

After surprisingly getting fired by the Miami Dolphins, Brian Flores finds himself in the job search again. Hiring Flores would be an interesting decision for the Texans. Miami has been heavily rumored in seeking a trade for Deshaun Watson. The disgruntled star quarterback has made it clear he'd like to play for Brian Flores. This could be a move to persuade Watson into staying in Houston.

Although that's true, that doesn't guarantee that Watson will remain with his current team if they choose to hire Flores. Regardless, this would be a brilliant hire for the Texans, as he fits the bill for what Houston is looking for. He has the experience of leading and developing a young roster, as he kept the Dolphins competitive throughout his tenure in Miami. Look for the front office to actively seek after Brian Flores, as he's one of the Texans' best head-coaching candidates right now.
