The Tennessee Titans made a splash pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after selecting Malik Willis in the third round. This kid has all of the tools to be a superstar, however, he fell in the draft for a reason. Regardless, he is an exciting pick for this franchise, as the potential for massive success is there if he puts it all together. We dive into some Malik Willis predictions for his rookie year.

One of the reasons Willis fell in the draft was due to his collegiate history. Liberty ran a rather simple offensive scheme and many teams are not sure if he can pick up an NFL offense. Luckily for him, the Titans run a basic enough offense for him to learn.

Will has a unique skill set, in that he is an elite-level athlete. He's been compared to some of the best rushing quarterbacks the league has ever seen. For that reason, we could see the Titans dial up some unique plays for him throughout the season. Additionally, fans are itching to have an upgrade at quarterback. If everything goes perfectly, the hype will reach a high point at the end of the season.

With that said, here are three predictions for Malik Willis for his rookie campaign with the Titans.

Malik Willis Rookie Predictions With Titans

3. He learns the playbook faster than expected

There are no reports of Willis being a bad student, or not being capable of learning an advanced playbook. It's just that Liberty utilized a unique offensive system. He looked amazing more often than not but still struggled at times. That's why teams across the league questioned his ability to learn an NFL playbook.

Even so, it's not like the Titans have an insanely complicated playbook. The offense is one of the most basic schemes in the league, which bodes well for Willis. Tennessee needs an upgrade at quarterback and the coaching staff is going to do everything possible to help him adjust to the professional level. It'll be a long journey, but Malik Willis can surprise a ton of people through his development.

2. Titans create specific plays for Malik Willis in the 2022 season

This is something we've seen from teams across the league when they acquire an athletic quarterback on the roster. Lamar Jackson and Trey Lance are all prime examples. Willis can bring that same concept to the Titans, as he's an athletic freak that will force opposing defenses to respect his legs.

Imagine lining up on defense just to see Malik Willis and Derrick Henry in shotgun formation. The Titans can run anything in that formation. Option run, play-action pass, or even just run it up the gut with Henry. Willis' athleticism brings a brand new element to Tennessee's offense that will be difficult for any defense to stop.

1. Malik Willis hype will reach a high point at the end of the season

If everything comes together, then Willis should be making huge progress in his development late in the season. We're not likely going to see him take over as the starting quarterback in his rookie campaign bearing injuries. Even so, if he displays promise in his opportunities on the field and proves he's making progress, the fan base is going to be extremely hype for the future.

The beautiful part about Malik Willis' role with the Titans is there is no pressure for him to succeed. Considering he was taken in the third round, there is no real rush for him to be a starter. The best-case scenario is he flashes potential in his limited opportunities and reports trickle in from the coaching staff saying he's making progress. Keep an eye on this exciting rookie, as many look forward to how his career will pan out.
