The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered another disappointing loss in week 12 to the Atlanta Falcons. Jacksonville lost this contest 21-14 and moved to 2-9 on the season.

The Jaguars have now lost three games in a row. It looks like they are going to finish as the second-worst team in the NFL.

This was a winnable game for the Jacksonville Jaguars against a below-average Atlanta Falcons team. Unfortunately, once again, their offense could not get much going as they only scored 14 points against a below-average defense. The Jaguars losing isn't necessarily a bad thing for this organization, but they do want some of their young guys to start looking better because they are the future of this organization.

Let's take a look at some key takeaways from the Jaguars' Week 12 loss.

Jaguars Week 12 Takeaways

3. Trevor Lawrence has to be better

This has unfortunately been the theme for most of the season. Trevor Lawrence isn't necessarily having a bad season, but for how much hype he had around him coming into the league, he needs to be better. Against the Falcons, he went 23-42 for 228 yards, with one touchdown, and an interception. If the Jaguars want to turn their season around and the organization around, they need Trevor Lawrence to be better.

All the blame can't go on Lawrence as the Jaguars do not have a great offensive line and they also don't have many weapons for him to throw the ball to. Jacksonville drafted arguably the most talented quarterback that college has seen in almost the past decade. For Trevor Lawrence to be as good as they want him to be, they need to build a team properly around him. They have failed to do so this season. Luckily for the Jaguars, they will once again have a high draft pick and can build around Lawrence to try to help him out next season.

It's not a matter of Trevor Lawrence not being good, but more so the issue that he does not have any help.

2. The defense played better

A team is usually going to struggle when they have a tough time getting stops. That has been the case for most of the season with the Jaguars as they have allowed more than 20 points per game in almost every single one of their contests. Although they still gave up 20 points this week in a 21-14 loss, the defense still looked improved.

Matt Ryan isn't exactly the best quarterback in the NFL, especially at this age, but he is still a competent quarterback. The Falcons were able to hold him to under 200 yards for only one touchdown. He also threw an interception.

If the defense can continue to play like this week in and week out, the Jaguars could find some success towards the back end of the season.

1. Losing is good

This is a rare thing to say in any sport, but when your team has so many areas that they need to improve, it's actually a good thing to lose.

All the Jaguars want to do from this point out is make sure that they secure one of the top three draft picks. Right now it looks like they're going to do exactly that. This is going to help the future of the organization because they are going to get Trevor Lawrence much-needed help. There are a significant amount of areas that this team needs to improve on and the best way to do that in the NFL, is through the draft.
