As training camp nears for the new-look Cincinnati Bengals, players on the roster bubble are on alert. The Bengals off-season lacks continuity for the better. Replacing the 16-year head coach Marvin Lewis is former Los Angeles Rams and Sean McVay assistant Zac Taylor. With a change in a head coach, roster cuts to previous staff favorites may happen.

3. Jeff Driskel – QB

Andy Dalton is the starter, and Ryan Finley is the rookie back-up plan. Jacob Dolega is an impressive undrafted free agent pick up. Lastly, Jeff Driskel is a backup that didn't fare too well when he played in 2018. With two new young quarterbacks and an established veteran on the roster, making the roster isn't going to be easy for Driskel.

After being selected in the sixth-round in 2016 by the San Francisco 49ers, Driskel bounced onto the Bengals after being cut. For two seasons he was a third-stringer, then filled in for an injured Dalton in 2018.

In five games played in 2018, Driskel won one, threw for 1,003 yards and a 6-2 TD-INT ratio on 59.7% completion rate. He also added in 130 yards and two scores on the ground. Not bad to the naked eye, but defenses caught on to his dual-threat ability, and he was held back by a limited arm. Depending on if the Bengals role with three quarterbacks, Driskel's time may be ending in Cincinnati.

2. Quinton Flowers – RB

Once an outstanding running quarterback at USF — tallying 3,672 yards and 41 touchdowns on the ground — Quinton Flowers converted to running back to transition to the pros. As is the nature of position changes, they can take a while. A sharp development curve often slows it down. For Flowers, this appears to hold, as the Bengals didn't play him once after signing on as an undrafted free agent.

Flowers carries a bit of intrigue — watch a YouTube highlight reel, and you'll see — but the Bengals don't need a fifth back on the roster. Nonetheless, one that's never played the position in the NFL. Joe Mixon is the star of the show, Giovani Bernard is his capable backup, and rookies Trayveon Williams and Rodney Anderson are uber-intriguing. Flowers should be an obvious cut in a full running back room.

1. Jordan Willis – DE

Cutting defensive Jordan Willis may be a bold proposition. He was a third-round pick just two drafts ago and has a massive frame. But it's justifiable; because Willis hasn't yet made an impact in the NFL. Though Willis has been eligible for 32 career games, he's started just two. In 897 career snaps, he's tallied 45 total tackles, two sacks, eight tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.

Willis has been a disappointment for the Bengals, and his roster spot could be gone due to new additions. Kerry Winn, a free agent addition familiar with the new coaching staff, is part of that. Sophomores Sam Hubbard and Andrew Brown, as well as former fourth-round pick Carl Lawson, are too. Considering Carlos Dunlap is a cornerstone, and the other four should make the squad, Willis' future in Cincinnati is all but clear.
