Former NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas played just three games in the 2020 NBA season before being waived by the New Orleans Pelicans. In those games, he averaged 16 minutes, 7.7 points, shooting a lackluster 33% from the field. Since being released, Thomas hasn't given up on making a triumphant NBA return. That gives us three reasons the Golden State Warriors should sign Thomas.

Warriors – Isaiah Thomas talking points:

IT is 100% healthy

For his career, Thomas averages 18.1 points and 4.9 assists. In the 2016-17 season, he had his best season, putting up 28.9 points and 5.9 assists, leading the Boston Celtics to the best record in the Eastern Conference finishing 53-29. They lost in the Conference Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. During that series is where he injured his hip, and things weren't the same for the All-Star since.

Years later, after having multiple procedures and seeing different specialists, Thomas appears to be completely healthy. He told ESPN's Marc Spears that he is fully healthy and can do everything he used to and more.

If that statement proves accurate, it would be a no-brainer to add him to the team.

Experience

Although he never won a championship, the 5'9 guard proved he could be a tremendous leader in Boston. Having a veteran point guard who can lead would be a big help in the second unit. He showed he could bring the best out of teammates and win games while with the Celtics.

Thomas let his elite scoring ability lead the way during his prime. If he can perform in a similar matter, it's a ton of options the Warriors could surround him with this season. The Warriors wouldn't expect him to be an All-Star again, but Thomas will need to work efficiently within the team's offense. Understanding he won't be the star, Thomas should be able to fill this Warriors' void.

Everyone loves a good story

In the past decade, the player the entire NBA feels for most might be Thomas. Standing at 5 foot 9 inches playing in the NBA was an obstacle by itself. He defied all odds and was the final pick in the 2011 NBA draft to the Sacramento Kings. Six years later, he was an MVP candidate leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals.

That might have been the most challenging year of his life. During the 2017 playoffs, Thomas' sister passed away. He played a day later and scored 33 points in a losing effort to the Chicago Bulls. He ended up advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals, where he had the mysterious hip injury that eventually forced him out of the league.

Thomas received multiple opportunities after that but could never get back to the player he once was. Videos this summer went viral of him scoring 81 points in a pro-amateur league in Seattle, WA. It showed he can still put the ball in the net. Videos of him crying after that game, saying, “They gave up on me,” also popped up.

End of the day, it will be some tough decisions for the Warriors as they decide who makes the final roster. Many would love to see Thomas get another chance, but the franchise will make the choice they feel is best for the team. Still, these are three reasons the Warriors should pick up Isaiah Thomas. It's a compelling case to give this veteran a fresh start in a fascinating NBA career.
