Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers decimated the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10. But while the 49ers came away with a win, McCaffrey came up just short of making NFL history.

McCaffrey entered the game having scored a touchdown in 17 straight games. Had he found the end zone against the Jaguars, he would've set a new NFL record of 18 straight games with a TD. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did everything in his power to get CMC the record. With San Francisco up 34-3 late in the fourth quarter, Shanahan called four straight plays for McCaffrey inside Jacksonville's 10-yard line. The Jaguars didn't allow the RB to find the end zone as the 49ers turned the ball over on downs, via ESPN's Field Yates.

While McCaffrey's consecutive touchdown streak might be over, the running back still proved to be an offensive force against the Jaguars. He gained 95 yards on 16 rushes, adding another 47 yards through the air on six receptions. McCaffrey's 142 all-purpose yards firmly led the 49ers' offense.

Christian McCaffrey has been everything San Francisco had hoped for when they landed him in a trade with the Carolina Panthers last season. In his first full year with the 49ers, the running back has racked up 652 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. He has added another 292 yards and four scores in the passing game.

Their win against the Jaguars moved the 49ers to 6-3 on the season. After three-straight losses, Kyle Shanahan and company were able to right the ship. While it may not be record-breaking anymore, the 49ers are hoping CMC finds himself in the end zone many more times throughout the 2023 season.
