Although it once looked like longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could become a member of his hometown San Francisco 49ers, the heralded NFC West franchise is now being led by former New England Patriots signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo, who has been tapped as the quarterback of the future in the Bay Area.

However, because Rodgers will always be linked to the 49ers regardless of where he plays moving forward, the conversation continues as NBC broadcaster and former NFL wide receiver Cris Collinsworth believes that Jimmy G is a much better fit in San Francisco.

“Green Bay wants Aaron Rodgers to start fitting within that system,” Collinsworth recently said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. Think of if Aaron Rodgers were inside the San Francisco 49ers system, which effectively it is. It’s the same style of play. Would you expect Aaron Rodgers to continue to do what he’s doing now? Which is sort of dropping back, and moving around, and finding space up in the pocket or make those snap throws you see from Garoppolo in this offense?”

Ironically enough, Garoppolo and the 49ers defeated Rodgers and the Packers in last season's NFC Championship Game. Although Rodgers does have a Super Bowl title under his belt as Garoppolo continues to search for his first, this conversation remains interesting as both NFC powerhouses should compete at a high level as a result of the upcoming 2020 campaign as well.

Both the 49ers and Packers are expected to be division winners once again this time around.
