The San Francisco 49ers are the hottest team in the league right now. And it shows with their impressive 8-0 start to the season. However, there is a very interesting statistic that can attribute how impressive this beginning to San Francisco's season is.

They have the second-best start to a season by a team that won five or fewer games in the Super Bowl era. It's one of the biggest surprises of this season to put it lightly. And with the way that the team is playing and performing at another level, it's not hard to see why.

Their head coach is flexing his offensive genius in the best way that he can in turning his offense into one of the best in the league. The offense is third in scoring, sixth in yards per game, and fourth in third-down conversion.

And it's all being spearheaded by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who is now 16-2 in his career after their Thursday Night Football win over the Cardinals. He continues to be worth the big contract that the team gave him in the 2018 offseason.

And the defense has gone above and beyond for the 49ers as well. They're second in both yards allowed per game and points allowed per game. A major turnaround from where they were in the 2018 season. They're the best passing defense in the league and are blessed with one of the most fearsome pass rush featuring Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner, and rookie Nick Bosa.

It's an incredible season for the 49ers, and it's only going to get better as the season continues.
