Bill O'Brien has had time to mull over his options since being ousted by the Houston Texans and it appears he's found his next destination. According to the official Twitter account of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nick Saban has officially hired O'Brien as his next offensive coordinator.

Saban was in need of a new offensive coordinator after Steve Sarkisian left Alabama in favor of accepting the head coaching job at Texas. Besides holding the title of offensive coordinator, O'Brien will also be the quarterbacks coach at Alabama.

Following the news becoming official, O'Brien shared how he felt on receiving a chance to coach under Saban in the upcoming college football season, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Back in October, O'Brien was fired as the head coach of the Texans after posting an 0-4 record to begin the 2020 campaign. Along with being the head coach, Houston granted O'Brien the power to be the general manager of the Texans, which ended up costing him his job.

The mind-boggling trade of DeAndre Hopkins and the expensive trade for Laremy Tunsil was just a couple of moves that led to O'Brien's demise. While he'll be demoted to a college program in Alabama, O'Brien has experience coaching student-athletes. Before becoming the head coach of the Texans in 2014, O'Brien was the head coach at Penn State from 2012-2013.

In recent seasons, when coaches fail in the NFL, some of them have accepted jobs under Saban in hopes it leads to an opportunity elsewhere. Besides O'Brien, Saban also hired Doug Marrone as his offensive line coach. Marrone was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month.
