The Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in 50 years back in February and although star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has gotten most of the praise and attention, defensive tackle Chris Jones and the Chiefs defense that shut out the San Francisco 49ers in the final quarter also deserve as much credit. Head coach Andy Reid agrees.

According to NBC Sports' Michael David Smith, shared the title-winning coach's reaction to Jones' new $80 million contract:

“This is so well deserved,” Reid said. “He’s done everything he needed to do to become a top defensive tackle in the National Football League, and he probably could do everything at defensive end on the outside that he does on the inside.”

The NFL coaching vet had high praise for his lead defender mentioning how he appreciates how Jones lives up to every expectation they have for their players with the Chiefs:

“How he’s handled himself in the weight room, in the classroom, on the field and in the community has been tremendous,” Reid added. “He comes with a smile on his face and he works hard.”

This upcoming season, Andy Reid should expect an even bigger smile on the star's face. After winning a Super Bowl and signing that massive contract, Jones has every reason and right to be beaming from ear to ear. And his head coach is loving it.

Jones will be returning for his fifth campaign with the Chiefs this season. The defending champions will look for their fifth straight AFC West title and eighth straight winning season with Reid.
