The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are both trying to overthrow the defending champions in the AFC, but that doesn't mean the Ravens are in an underdog position. Early in the season, behind a lockdown defense, it seemed that the defending champion New England Patriots were once again the team to beat in the AFC. However, after some stumbling on the offensive side of the ball, the door opened for another team to take the throne in the conference.

As of now, it looks like that team is the Baltimore Ravens. Behind likely MVP Lamar Jackson and a solid defense, the Ravens are bullying other teams and are in the midst of a 10-game win streak.

But what other team has the best chance to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LIV? Well, despite those aforementioned struggles from the Patriots, New England is still 11-3 on the season. However, even with the defense playing as great as they are, i'm not convinced this year's iteration of the offense has it takes to keep up with Baltimore.

The Patriots were exposed in week nine against the Ravens and although teams can change, injuries and inexperience have haunted the Patriots multiple times this year. Still, it's hard to doubt the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick duo that has proven time and time again that they are not to be underestimated.

The other likely candidate to dethrone the Ravens are the Kansas City Chiefs. They made the AFC Championship last year fueled by an MVP season from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. And although Mahomes has had to deal with injuries this season, he looked pretty healthy in the Chiefs 23-3 win against Denver this past week.

With Mahomes under center, the offense will be in good hands. The Chiefs definitely have the talent to compete with Baltimore on offense, the question recently is will the Kansas City defense show up.

In recent weeks, that's exactly what they've done. The Chiefs defense has allowed just 9.3 points per game in the team's last three matchups — one of those being a 23-16 victory over the Patriots in Foxborough.

So, while it's probably not smart to doubt the guys that have been there multiple times, today, I'd probably take Kansas City as the biggest threat to the Ravens in the AFC. Yes the Patriots have the experience and coaching but I just haven't seen enough from the offense to get me to think they can hang with Lamar Jackson.

The Chiefs on the other hand are playing great football in the last couple of weeks and after getting to the AFC Championship last year, could very well be making a return.
