Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has left the door open for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to potentially move to Newcastle in the January transfer window, reported by GOAL. Ramsdale, who was a key figure in all 38 Premier League games for Arsenal last season, has seen a significant reduction in playing time following the loan arrival of David Raya from Brentford in the summer.

Despite Arteta expressing his desire to keep Ramsdale at Arsenal, he didn't rule out the possibility of a transfer, acknowledging that he cannot guarantee the future of any player at the club. Arteta stated, “I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers. We want to be better, so we want to add to what we already have. That's the intention that we have. I cannot tell you that any Arsenal player is not going to leave in January.”

While Mikel Arteta emphasized his wish to retain Ramsdale, he refrained from making definitive statements about player movements in the upcoming transfer window. Wolves reportedly expressed interest in the 25-year-old goalkeeper, but Arsenal rejected their bid.

Newcastle United is believed to be leading the race for Aaron Ramsdale's signature, especially after losing goalkeeper Nick Pope to a long-term injury. Arteta's Arsenal, currently leading the Premier League table with a two-point advantage over Liverpool, is scheduled to face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday and then take on Aston Villa four days later as the fixture list becomes more congested heading into the festive period.
