Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman bluntly revealed how Joan Laporta reacted to his recent controversial press conference stunt.

In Barcelona’s Wednesday's pre-match press conference, Ronald Koeman read a statement he wrote and instead of answering questions from reporters, the Dutchman stood up and walked straight out of the room.

The said act certainly added more pressure on Koeman given Barcelona’s disappointing season. However, the Barca boss bared that despite the heat, the club’s president Joan Laporta had “nothing” to say about the said press conference.

“Nothing has happened since that day,” Koeman said during a pre-match press conference on Saturday via Marca. “We spoke on the plane about the Cadiz match and that's all there is to it.”

Despite being also aware that reports claim he’s on the verge of losing his job as Barcelona coach, Koeman insisted that “rumors” will always be around in this sport.

“I can't say much about this subject because I haven't read the papers for a long time,” the manager commented. “I know about the rumors, but the only thing we have to do is win games. There are rumours, names…that's your job. I'm not going to waste energy on things I can't control.”

Laporta, on the other hand, assured that Barcelona still got Koeman’s back at least at this point.

“We are behind the coach,” Laporta said via Marca. “Koeman is the coach of Barcelona's first team and what we want is for things to go well for him.”

“The coaches, not only Koeman, depend a lot on their results and in the case of Barcelona, [they are judged] every game,” he continued. “But Koeman is our coach and we are behind him now.”
