Baylor did not have the ideal ending to their season. They slipped to a nine-loss record after losing to West Virginia which put a dot on their hopes for any bowl games or opportunities to compete for the CFP National Championship. This prompted much-needed changes in the Bears' program. Dave Aranda is returning for next season but the same fate cannot be said for Jeff Grimes and Blake Shapen.

Blake Shapen will no longer be the quarterback for the Baylor football program. He is set to enter the transfer portal in hopes of finding a squad that will compete for the college football playoffs, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Any team that tries to grab the insanely talented offensive engine will surely not regret their decision. The former quarterback for Baylor notched 184 completions which got the team 2,188 passing yards. Only three interceptions were thrown during his season campaign. This was offset by a whopping 13 touchdown passes to lead the Bears in their offense.

His last outing came with a disappointing loss to TCU. Josh Hoover completely torched him in this matchup where the Horned Frogs quarterback darted 412 passing yards with 24 completions on 29 passing attempts. Shapen only had 197 passing yards along with 20 completions on 30 attempted passes. Baylor would badly lose the game with a 17-to-42 scoreline.

Jeff Grimes will also no longer be with the Dave Aranda-led coaching staff. They fired the offensive coordinator after three years of being with the Bears. All of this may be part of a cultural shift to forge a CFP National Championship-winning culture for years to come.
