Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has made it clear that he would like to either be paid or traded this offseason. It appears the Chicago Bears could be among the teams pulling for the latter.

The onus has fallen to the front office to decide whether or not they are willing to pay him. According to Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, the Bears should be among the teams interested in his services.

A year ago, the Bears leaped at the opportunity to add a defensive difference-maker in Khalil Mack. Gordon won't command nearly as much, but the Bears have an extra second-round pick to use if they feel the same about the running back.

The prospect of the Bears trading for Gordon is certainly not too far-fetched. They have proven not to be shy about trading for pieces they feel can take them to the next level. They pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade for defensive end Khalil Mack last offseason and it resulted in them dominating the NFC North with a 12-4 record.

Gordon could be just the type of player to make a similar impact on the offensive side of the ball. The Bears parted ways with longtime workhorse Jordan Howard this offseason in exchange for a 2020 sixth-round pick. Their backfield now consists of three unproven options in Tarik Cohen, Mike Davis, and David Montgomery.

Although head coach Matt Nagy is confident in the group he has, there is no question that Gordon would help take things to the next level for their offense.
