The Chicago Bears have cycled through a number of bad quarterbacks in their history. The QB history in Chicago is so dire that Jay Cutler is arguably the best ever. That's truly grim.

However, there's a ray of light now in the form of Justin Fields after the Bears traded up to acquire him with the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. There are no guarantees Fields will be the quarterback savior Chicago has been clamoring for, but he has a ton of potential and promise.

Of course, this also means plenty of pressure to succeed. Luckily, Fields has a good head on his shoulders and is ready to take on this challenge:

This is exactly what you like to see out of a potential franchise quarterback. Fields is confident, smart and has all the physical tools, giving him a great chance to flourish in Chicago.

Bears fans are certainly hoping this trade up will go better than the last time general manager Ryan Pace targeted a quarterback in the first round. Pace gave up quite the haul to move up one spot to take Mitchell Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson in 2017, and that turned out to be a disastrous move.

Of course, this situation is a bit different. Fields came into this draft as the No. 2 prospect according to plenty of experts out there, but he slipped down the draft board for whatever reason. Pace took advantage of Fields' slide and made an aggressive move to get his man, which could wind up saving his job.

Fields isn't expected to start right away in Chicago, but it shouldn't be too long before he takes over under center and tries to break this Bears QB curse that has plagued the franchise almost throughout the entirety of its existence.
