The Chicago Bears have been selected as the team focused on for the next season of HBO and NFL Films' “Hard Knocks” according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. This will be the first time the franchise has been displayed on the popular sports television show.

There is no doubt that the Bears are at the center of attention coming into this upcoming season, mostly because they have an exciting rookie quarterback in Caleb Williams who was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the last NFL Draft. Consequently, the first episode of the Bears on “Hard Knocks” will air on Tuesday, August 6.

Besides this being the first time the Bears will be featured on the show as said before, this will also be the first time a team is focused with the No. 1 overall pick rookie quarterback since the Cleveland Browns in 2018 with Baker Mayfield. All eyes will be on the USC Trojan this season as he has been hailed as one of the most talented prospects at the position with some people comparing him to Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

Even with Williams being a huge storyline heading into the season, the Bears have added a ton of stars to bolster the offense around their young star like wide receiver Keenan Allen, fellow rookie Rome Odunze, and even running back D'Andre Swift. It's safe to say that the expectations are through the roof for Chicago to pop off and possibly win the NFC North for the first time since 2018.

Parties involved with the show are excited to showcase the Bears

Subsequently, the Bears will not be the only team featured on “Hard Knocks” as they are just one of three shows this year with one scheduled for the off-season with the New York Giants and the other during the season focusing on four teams in one division. Last season, the New York Jets were the training camp focus as Chicago will be and the Miami Dolphins were shown during the schedule.

“We are honored to feature such an iconic NFL franchise on ‘Hard Knocks,'” NFL Films Senior Director and Supervising Producer Shannon Furman said via the Bears' website. “The Chicago Bears have a talented roster, coaching staff and front office all determined to match the expectations of a hungry fanbase. We are thankful to the entire organization for opening their doors to us for what is sure to be an exciting training camp this summer.”

Bears general manager Ryan Poles expressed his excitement of his team being on “Hard Knocks.”

“The 2024 training camp will be big for us in preparation for achieving our season goals and we look forward to bringing the fans at home along for the journey,” Poles said.

Lofty expectations for Chicago heading into training camp

As for Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus who will be heading into third season with the franchise, he said that everybody involved are ecstatic for training camp to arrive which will be flooded with cameras from HBO and NFL Films.

“Our players, coaches and staff are excited to continue the process of building for the 2024 season,” Eberflus said.

The Bears are trying to improve off last season where they were 7-10 and last in the NFC North. Consequently, they open up their season at home against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 8.
