Cincinnati Bengals guard Clint Boling is hanging them up. The Georgia product announced his retirement from the NFL today through the team.

“After eight years in the NFL, it is time for me to step away from the game due to medical reasons,” Boling said. “This is not an easy decision, but it is the right one for me, my wife Kelly and our two young girls. I want to thank the Brown family for giving me the opportunity to play my entire career with the Bengals. I also want to thank my teammates, coaches, fans, and everyone who has supported me throughout my career.”

Bolin originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2011 and spent his entire eight-year career with Cincy. Boling was held out of OTAs with an injury, and this isn't a shock, as there had been rumors he was mulling retirement.

Boling has been a fixture on Cincinnati's offensive line, starting all 16 games in four of the last five seasons. Cordy Glenn was initially expected to take over at left guard, but he's now kicking over to left tackle to replace Jonah Williams, who will miss the entire season with a shoulder injury.

Fourth-year player Christian Westerman is currently viewed as the favorite to take over at left guard now. Offensive line has been a significant weakness for the Bengals the last couple of years, and they desperately need the unit to improve. If Andy Dalton is going to have a bounce-back year, it's going to start with the offensive line.
