The Cincinnati Bengals fell just short in Super Bowl 56 as the Los Angeles Rams scored a game-winning touchdown in the dying minutes to secure the victory. Cornerback Eli Apple caught a lot of flak on that play as he failed to cover Cooper Kupp, who caught the TD.

Following the game, Apple was the victim of a lot of hate because he also was called for a crucial pass interference penalty that put the Rams on the 1-yard line. Overall, it wasn't a great day for the Bengals CB and Kansas City Chiefs stars Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman both made sure to roast him after the loss.

On Thursday, Apple took to Instagram and clapped back at the haters while promising to come back stronger in 2022:

Apple is set to become a free agent this offseason, but it's unknown at this point if the Bengals will look to retain him. However, the former Ohio State standout enjoyed one of his best years to date, playing in 16 games and finishing with 49 tackles, 10 passes defended, and two interceptions. Apple struggled to really shine in previous stints with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.

The haters can hate, but Eli Apple did do his part to help the Bengals make it to the Super Bowl. Whatever journey comes next in Apple's career, he'll be ready.
