The Cincinnati Bengals are already highly impressed with Joe Burrow, the #1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, from what they've seen with him at the virtual off-season. Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan even had this to say about the rookie in an interview with Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic:

“Sometimes he would say things early on and I’d say, we are not talking about that right now, let’s just get through what we need to get through here and then we can revisit that later. We will probably answer that question you have in a day or two days or three days because we are not there yet. I know you are, but we’re not.”

The Bengal coaches are seemingly very happy with the progress and mental acumen of the rookie. Burrow is already showing sharpness with his play-calling and pre-snap protections showing that he is ahead of his teammates. In fact, Callahan and the rest of the staff are adjusting their playbook to make use of Burrow's favorite plays from his time with the Louisiana State University Tigers.

“We looked at (LSU tape) with him and he was able to share his thoughts about what he really liked and wanted to continue doing,” quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher said to The Athletic. “He and Brian (Callahan) would talk about it, say, ‘We very easily can incorporate these because we already do something similar. Maybe these are new but worthwhile. These couple can go on the back burner.’ It was a natural process that takes place.”

The Bengals will be happy to have Burrows help turn their fortune around in the upcoming NFL season. The team was at the bottom of the barrel in the AFC North with a dismal 2-14 record last season.
