Joe Mixon is going to be sidelined for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns, and he could miss more time than that with his foot injury. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Mixon could also miss Cincinnati's Week 8 game versus the Tennessee Titans.

Mixon suffered his current foot injury against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, causing him to exit the game early. Following Cincinnati's narrow loss to Indianapolis, Mixon was designated as questionable for Week 7.

However, as Mixon continued to log DNPs every day of the week, the Bengals ruled Mixon out for Sunday's contest versus the Browns. Mixon's injury appears to be serious enough to make him week-to-week moving forward.

Through the first six weeks, Mixon was a focal point of Cincinnati's new-look offense with Joe Burrow under center. The dual-threat running back has carried the ball 119 times for 428 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. At the same time, he has hauled in 21 receptions for 138 yards and another score as a receiving threat.

With Mixon missing time, Giovani Bernard is slated to see an expanded workload. Bernard touched the ball 11 times for 28 yards and a touchdown after replacing Mixon against the Colts.

Seeing that the Bengals aren't in contention for the playoffs, they'll likely take a cautious approach with Mixon, especially since foot injuries can be tricky for running backs and wide receivers. Until Mixon is able to return, expect to see more of Bernard and either Samaje Perine or Trayveon Williams in the backfield.
