It appears that Cincinnati Bengals halfback Joe Mixon will sit out in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mixon went down with an injured foot during the first half of Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Head coach Zac Taylor was optimistic, however, when asked about the former All-American on Friday after practice.

“He's just got a foot injury,” Taylor said. “We'll see how this weekend goes. The only thing I'd rule him out for is this game.”

Mixon brings a huge boost to the Bengals' backfield, with his production being noticeable enough to secure a four-year, $48 million contract this past offseason. He finished the contest against the Colts rushing for 54 yards from 18 carries. He also caught two of three targets for 15 yards along with one touchdown, though the Bengals still came up short against the Colts with a final score of 31-27.

Even so, the former University of Oklahoma halfback was having a decent season before going down with his injury. As the No.1 option at the halfback slot, he leads the team in rushing yards with 428 for the season. He exploded during Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, going for 151 rushing yards off 25 carries resulting in two touchdowns. He also completed all of his six targets in the passing game which resulted in 30 yards along with a touchdown.

The Bengals may find themselves in luck against a self-detonating Browns squad that's on the brink of destruction. With quarterback Baker Mayfield underperforming, the Browns will have what could be one of their final test before they have to look at making some difficult choices for a better future.
