UFC Louisville: Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov continues on the prelims with a fight in the bantamweight division between Cody Stamann and Taylor Lapilus. Stamann comes into this fight 2-1 in his last three fights however, dropping a unanimous decision in his last fight meanwhile, Lapilus is coming off his first loss in his second stint in the UFC after dropping a unanimous decision in his last fight. Cody Stamann (21-6-1) has been a staple of the UFC's bantamweight division for quite some time now. He is currently just 2-3 over his last 5 fights most recently dropping a decision to Douglas de Andrade in his last fight. Stamann will be looking to get back into the win column when he takes on France's Taylor Lapilus this weekend at UFC Louisville.
Taylor Lapilus (19-4) went 3-1 in his first stint in the UFC before being abruptly released back in 2016. He then went 7-1 en route to his second stint with the UFC where he is now 1-1 after dropping a decision to one of the UFC's top bantamweight prospects Farid Basharat. Now, Lapilus will be looking to get back on track when he takes on Cody Stamann this weekend in Louisville.

Why Cody Stamann Will Win
Cody Stamann has been a staple in the UFC's bantamweight division since 2017 and he's been fighting the who's who of the division for quite some time now. He most recently dropped a hard-fought decision against Douglas Silva de Andrade who outworked Stamann throughout the fight to get the nod on the judge's scorecards. Now Stamann is looking to right the ship and get back into the win column when he takes on France's Taylor Lapilus this weekend at UFC Louisville.

Stamann is a hard-nosed fighter that is always tough to beat and tough to put away. He's only been finished twice in his career and that was by submission against Said Nurmagomedov and Aljamain Sterling so needless to say the chance of him getting finished in this fight should be quite low. As for this matchup against Lapilus, it should be a fairly evenly matched fight if the fight were to stay on the feet but where Stamann should have an advantage is if he utilizes his wrestling. If Stamann can go into this matchup and mix in the takedowns with his strikes he has a chance of scoring the upset and getting back on track this weekend.
Why Taylor Lapilus Will Win
Taylor Lapilus made the most of his second UFC debut when he defeated bantamweight prospect Caolan Loughran. However, Lapilus couldn't beat back-to-back prospects as he dropped his next fight by unanimous decision to Farid Basharat. Lapilus will be looking to get back into the win column when he takes on Cody Stamann this weekend.
Lapilus does his best work on the feet where he's able to utilize his speed and movement to pick apart his opposition at range. He was getting the better of the exchanges against both Basharat and Loughran on the feet and should be able to do the same against Stamann. It's going to come down to whether or not he can keep this fight on his feet. If he can keep this fight standing he's going to surpass his moneyline but if he fails to defend the takedowns it could be a long night for Lapilus come this Saturday night.
Final Cody Stamann-Taylor Lapilus Prediction & Pick
This should be a great scrap between these two bantamweight fighters. Both Stamann and Lapilus have a ton of experience coming into this and it's going to come down to who executes their gameplan the best. Cody Stamann is going to have to mix in the takedowns with his strikes meanwhile, Lapilus will need to do all that he can to keep this fight on the feet to outstrike Stamann. Ultimately, Lapilus is going to look early in this fight as he has in the majority of his fights but once we get midway through the fight that is when Stamann will start to land his takedowns and rack up control time which will help him score the decision on the judge's scorecards and get back into the win column this weekend.
