In an American League showdown that is surely going to be under the spotlight when these two go at it on Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Angels will travel to the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees. Join us for our MLB odds series, where our Angels-Yankees prediction and pick will be chosen.
In order to avoid the wheels from falling off with a win on Tuesday, the slumping Angels will call upon Thor himself in RHP Noah Syndergaard, who has had a nice resurgence with the Halos as he has posted a 4-2 record with a 3.08 ERA.
The Yankees on the other hand have continued their dominance on the opposition with a 33-15 record and led the Rays by five games in the race for the top spot in the AL East. Left-hander Jordan Montgomery will be seeking his first win of the season, as he is 0-1 with a 3.30 ERA in his nine games started.

Why The Angels Could Cover the Spread
While this Angels team can be one of the deadliest squads in all of baseball when they are hitting on all cylinders, poor efforts from their starting pitching and bullpen could be the reason why the Angels are currently in a winning drought.
During their losing streak, the Angels have yet to hold a team to under four runs, as the inconsistency in throwing strikes, unable to miss bats, and the fact that they haven't seemed very comfortable on the mound are all factors in why Los Angeles has been in the rut that they are in. As a whole, the Angels have pitched rather effectively in 2022, which is why their struggles have been a surprise as of late.
For the first time in four years at Yankee Stadium, the Angels' offensive attack will be fully operational with no injuries to speak. With recent years' setbacks more specifically with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, the dynamic duo will be out in full force on Tuesday. Their only appearance playing together against the Yankees came on May 25th-27th of 2018 when the pair combined to go 6-20 with two homers and six RBIs.
Article Continues BelowWhen Trout and Ohtani are at their best, so is this Angels lineup. With the fourth-most runs in baseball scored with 235 and an absurd .426 slugging percentage, a mistake pitch thrown at one of these stars will change the game's outcome with one swing of the bat.
The expected starter in Syndergaard hasn't pitched at Yankee Stadium since 2018, but if the former Met can have a repeat of that performance in which he only surrendered one run in five innings tossed, then the Angels may have a shot at snapping the losing skid.
Why The Yankees Could Cover the Spread
While all teams seem to hit somewhat of a slump throughout the marathon that is the MLB season, New York has avoided that for the most part up to this point, which is why they are in such terrific shape as we inch closer to the month of June. Yes, New York might have now dropped back-to-back contests after coming out on the short end of the stick in their 4-2 loss at the hands of the Rays, but don't expect this Yankees team to be down for too long.
With the summer weather starting to make its impact all across America, the Yankees' bats have also been quite balmy. With 220 runs on the season ranking ninth in all of baseball, one of the best traits of the 2022 Yankees seems to be their timely hitting and making teams pay when given the opportunity. Similar to that of the Angels, the Yankees boast a premier slugging percentage of .406, which isn't too far behind LA at sixth in the majors.
If the Yankees are going to cover the spread and ensure that the Angels get another spoonful of losing, then watch out for OF Aaron Judge to have another impressive showing this evening. Judge has clearly been the heart and soul of the New York offense, as he is slashing a .308 average while already crushing 18 home runs and driving in an additional 37 runners on base.
The bats may have been a vital part of the overall success of the Yankees in 2o22, but it has been the pitching that has separated New York from the rest of the competition. Through 48 games, the Yankees have thrown their way to a third-best 2.95 ERA and have the best WHIP in all of the land with a 1.08 mark.
With Montgomery only facing the Angels one time in his career back in 2017, the Yankees are hoping that they will be able to catch the Angels off guard by using their southpaw hurler and his unfamiliarity to their advantage.
Final Angels-Yankees Prediction & Pick
Both teams enter play with losing streaks, but only one side will come away with a victory. The Yankees are the better team right now, as their 17-7 home record should factor largely in the outcome of this one.
Final Angels-Yankees Prediction & Pick: Yankees -1.5 (+146)
