The Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox will continue the ALCS Monday night with the series tied 1-1 as it goes back to Boston. It’s time to continue our MLB odds series and make a Red Sox-Astros prediction and pick.
The Astros and Red Sox split the first two games of the series in Houston, and tonight they will battle for control of the ALCS from Fenway Park. J.D. Martinez and Enrique Hernandez homered in Boston's Game 2 win over the Astros, as the Red Sox offense generated nine runs off of Houston pitching on Saturday. Jose Urquidy will take the bump for the Astros on Monday, and he will face Eduardo Rodriguez, who will start on the mound for the Red Sox.
Here’s how the bookmakers have set the Astros Red Sox odds for Sunday’s game.

Why the Astros can win this game
Jose Urquidy was 8-3 with a 3.62 ERA for the Astros this season, striking out 90 batters in 107 innings. He's a reliable arm that can keep them in the game. Their lineup, still led by Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve, has the ability to pop off any given night as evidenced by their explosion for 10 runs off of the Chicago White Sox in Game 4 of the ALDS. The Astors bats may be due for another big night off of the lefty Rodriguez. They are slight favorite in this game despite being on the road, mostly due to a fairly solid edge in the pitching matchup.
Why the Red Sox can win this game
Boston comes into Game 3 with momentum off of a much needed win in Game 2. The Red Sox will look to feed off of the home crowd at Fenway Park. Their lineup, particularly Hernandez, has been hot in the postseason. Boston is on an impressive run, but they will need Rodriguez to keep the ball in the ballpark tonight. The left-hander has struggled at times this season and the Astros have a few imposing bats. If Rodriguez can avoid a disaster situation early, the Red Sox offense could keep them in the game even if he gives up a few runs. The Red Sox have momentum and they are at home, they are not a bad pick tonight.
Final Astros-Red Sox Prediction & Pick
This game feels like a toss-up, and the line reflects that. The offense always has a chance to pop off, so playing the run-line may be better than picking a side in such a tight matchup. Take the over, and pray the wind is blowing out at Fenway.
FINAL ASTROS-RED SOX PREDICTION AND PICK: Over 9 runs (-124)
