The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins will continue their four-game series at Target Field on Saturday afternoon. It's time to continue our MLB odds coverage with a White Sox-Twins prediction and pick.
The White Sox defeated the Twins 6-2 on Friday to take the second of the four-game set. It was 2-2 in the third inning when Tim Anderson approached the plate and slugged the first pitch to left field for a solo home run. The blast was his first since May 22, and fifth in 2022, putting the Sox up 3-2. Later, Adam Engel blasted a three-run bomb to left field, his second of the season, giving the Sox a 6-2 lead in the seventh inning. The score would hold and the Sox cut the Twins' division lead to two games.
Chicago will send Lance Lynn to the mound today. Lynn is 1-2 with a 6.97 ERA. Likewise, he labored in his last start, tossing just four innings and allowing eight earned runs on nine hits with two walks. Lynn is 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA in six games started against the Twins. Consequently, he is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts at Target Field, both games happening last year.
Minnesota will roll with Dylan Bundy on the hill. Bundy is 5-4 with a 4.68 ERA in 2022. Recently, he tossed five innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Bundy is 2-2 with a 4.58 ERA in seven starts since June 1. Alternatively, he is 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA over five starts at Target Field, showing his preference for pitching at home.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread
The White Sox offense has picked up considerably over the last two months. Chicago is second in the majors in batting average since June 1, as they are hitting .274 since the calendar. Likewise, the Sox are fourth in the majors in batting average, which is the only success they have offensively. The Sox rank 19th in on-base percentage, 16th in runs scored, 24th in home runs, and 21st in slugging percentage. Anderson, Luis Robert, and Jose Abreu are the best weapons the Sox have at the plate.
Anderson is batting .250 (5 for 20) with two RBIs in his career against Bundy. Subsequently, he is batting .200 (7 for 25) with two home runs, three RBIs, and eight runs against the entire Twins pitching staff this year. Robert is batting .200 (1 for 5) in his career against Bundy. However, he has dominated Twins' pitching this season, batting .438 (7 for 16) with two home runs, seven RBIs, and five runs. Abreu owns Bundy, as he is batting .400 (8 for 20) with two home runs and three RBIs against the pitcher. Moreover, that dominance has continued against the Twins, where he is batting .333 (10 for 30) with two home runs, six RBIs, and four runs this year.
The White Sox will cover the spread if they can get a decent outing out of Lynn. Additionally, they need Anderson, Robert, and Abreu to come through in the clutch.
Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread
The Twins have hit the stuffing out of the baseball, and it is a significant reason they have led the AL Central for so long. Minnesota ranks sixth in batting average, fifth in on-base percentage, 11th in runs, eighth in home runs, and sixth in slugging percentage. Carlos Correa, Luis Arraez, and Byron Buxton have led the charge.
Correa is batting .083 (1 for 12) in his career against Lynn. Also, he has struggled against all White Sox' pitching in 2022, batting a measly .150 (3 for 20) with an RBI and three runs in six games. Arraez is batting .353 (6 for 17) with one RBI against Lynn in his career. Additionally, he has destroyed Chicago pitching this season, batting .457 (16 for 35) with five RBIs and six runs over eight games. Buxton has faced Lynn three times and has yet to connect on a hit. Alternatively, he has hit White Sox' pitching well this year, batting .367 (11 for 30) with four home runs, nine RBIs, and seven hits.
The Twins will cover the spread if Bundy can give them six decent innings. Additionally, Correa, Arraez, and Buxton must produce on offense and help the Twins generate more than the four runs they have amassed over two games.
Final White Sox-Twins Prediction & Pick
The White Sox were division favorites at the beginning of the year. Now, they have a golden opportunity to go into the All-Star break feeling good about themselves as they trim the Twins' lead. Neither pitcher is good, but the over is too high in this circumstance. The game goes down to the wire, and the Sox cover.
Final White Sox-Twins Prediction & Pick: White Sox: +1.5 (-178)
