Winners of seven straight contests and now sitting with a 47-16 record, New York will send the lefty in Jordan Montgomery to the mound and his 2-1 record and 2.70 ERA.

After splitting their four-game series with the Orioles, the Blue Jays will look to get back on track after being down 10-2 on Thursday. It will be the righty in Ross Stripling who will get the nod for Toronto against the mighty ‘Yanks, as the 32-year-old is 3-1 with a 3.14 ERA in 2022.

Why The Yankees Could Cover the Spread

There aren't enough words in the English language to describe exactly what is going on in the Bronx. Maybe we can start by calling this Yankees bunch absolutely extraordinary. Finding themselves in a close game late against the Rays, it was the heroics of the former Cub himself in Anthony Rizzo, who sent a moonshot into the right-center bleachers at Yankee Stadium to complete the sweep of Tampa Bay.

The dramatic walk-off victory on Thursday sums up the 2022 Yankees pretty well. Even in games where they are not at their best, they still find ways to get into the win column.

After New York was forced to scratch Thursday's expected starter, Luis Severino, from taking the mound thanks to COVID, the Yankees had used their bullpen for the majority of the game in hopes that they could give a valiant effort despite the setback. No surprise here, but it was simply the next-man-up mentality for New York, who has appeared as resilient as it comes in almost every game they suit up for including yesterday.

The Yankees' bats are more than capable enough to harm the Blue Jays' pitching staff, especially since Toronto is fresh off surrendering 10 runs versus Baltimore. On the season, New York has punished opposing pitching to the tune of 315 runs, which is now tied for the second-most in all of baseball.

If New York plans on extending their impressive winning streak, look out for Montgomery to continue his steady play versus Toronto in his career. In nine appearances, Montgomery is 2-1 with a more than ideal 3.98 ERA.

Why The Blue Jays Could Cover the Spread

A similar caliber ball club to that of the Rays according to the AL East standings, the Blue Jays are well aware of what the Yankees can be capable of. After seeing Tampa Bay fall flat on their faces in being victims of a three-game sweep, Toronto must play collaborative ball. With just a little luck sprinkled on top, they can give the Yankees a run for their money this weekend.

When it comes to this specific matchup that is taking place later this evening, Toronto certainly possesses a style out on the diamond that can challenge the Yankees over the course of nine innings. When all else fails, the Blue Jays sure can beat you in a multitude of ways. Statistically, Toronto is a top-ten roster at the plate and on the mound. They can score runs in a hurry and also mow down hitters at a feverish pace with a talented starting staff and bullpen.

The Blue Jays also hope they can be at full strength on Friday, as names like Matt Chapman and Bo Bichette have been banged up over the past week. While each player's injury doesn't seem to be all that serious, it is a must that Toronto has all hands on deck against arguably the best team in major league baseball. Not to mention, but in six games against New York thus far on the season, the Blue Jays have only mustered up a total of 13 runs. Offense, offense, and some more offense will be absolutely dire if the Blue Jays want to trim down their ten-game deficit in the AL East standings.

Final Yankees-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

The last time these two pitchers faced off back on May 2nd, both arms only gave up two runs each as the Yankees edged out the Jays 3-2. Don't be shocked if both lineups are somewhat silenced by Stripling and Montgomery as the game progresses. This one will be close throughout, but the Yankees covering the -1.5 spread due to some timely hits will most likely be the outcome this evening. Start spreading the news, the Yankees win again, and continue down on the path of making history!

Final Yankees-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick: Yankees -1.5 (+146)
