The Golden State Warriors begin a three-game road trip in South Beach as they get set to take on the Miami Heat. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Warriors-Heat prediction and pick.

Both teams are currently fighting to stay above the surface in 2021 and make a late push for the postseason. We've seen up-and-down seasons from both teams with some promising wins and some devastating defeats. The last meeting between these two clubs was back in February. Miami led much of that game, but Golden State made a late push to send the game to OT where Stephen Curry ultimately buried the Miami Heat.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Warriors-Heat odds.

Golden State Warriors +2.5 (-110)

Miami Heat -2.5 (-110)

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

The Golden State Warriors have really struggled of late without their leader, Stephen Curry. In their four-game stretch without Steph, Golden State lost all four by a combined 56 points. Steve Kerr and the Warriors are taking a huge sigh of relief as Steph is finally set to return to the court tonight. His return will be a huge boost for a team that depends on their point-guard to score about 30 of their points every game. The Warriors are right in the mix, currently sitting in the ninth spot out west.

Golden State has struggled away from the bay and will look to bring an added energy to the court against a Heat team that struggles on the offensive end. The Warriors possess a top-10 defense in the league behind their heart and soul, Draymond Green. Green came out recently and said that he is in fact the greatest defensive player in NBA history. Although that may be a stretch, it is clear that he has his team playing phenomenal basketball on that end. Miami has struggled in South Beach going 0-4 in their last four home games.

Why The Heat Could Cover The Spread

The Miami Heat are back on track again in what has been a rollercoaster season this far. We can't keep up with this team. One week it's a multiple game winning streak, followed by a losing streak, and then another hot streak to get back on a roll. The Heat are currently riding the positive end of the rollercoaster right now as they've won two straight against Indiana and New York. The Heat should see an added boost with Victor Oladipo expected to make his debut against Golden State.

The Heat open a four-game home stand that they are hoping to take full advantage of. Miami will host Golden State tonight, followed by the Cavs, Grizzlies, and LA Lakers. They need all four in hopes of climbing the east standings with less than half of the season left. Miami has been lights out on defense all year, allowing the fewest shot attempts against in the NBA. This is key against a Warrior team that loves to push the pace. The Heat will look to take advantage of the turnover prone Golden State Warriors that have been bad on the road all year.

Final Warriors-Heat Prediction & Pick

This is my pick of the night. I absolutely love the Miami Heat in this spot. They are getting back on track and have a huge edge in many aspects of this game. They will win this turnover battle every time and almost certainly put key Warriors in early foul trouble. Golden State is 2-6 in their last eight and 1-5 in their last six games as the underdog. Oladipo adds another element to this team offensively that it has been starved for and could very well be the difference maker in his Miami Debut.

FINAL WARRIORS-HEAT PICK: Miami Heat -2.5 (-110)
