Why Newcastle Could Win This Match
A lot of people believed that the iconic club from the north of England is all but gone from the EPL. With just one win in their first 20 matches, the Magpies were a foregone conclusion. However, a massive investment in the January transfer window that brought in Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimares, and Chris Wood meant that Newcastle is staying up. With their first loss in 2022 coming in March, they rose up the table and gained enough points to be safe.

Despite this being true, Newcastle has a huge chance to play spoiler. With Arsenal's last game being against Everton, which should be a win for the Gunners, Newcastle could give a massive boost to Tottenham, due to the Spurs now being up two points on their city rivals. Now, Newcastle does not have a dog in that fight, but any time there is a chance to play relaxed football but still impact the table, teams in England usually jump at the opportunity.
Another thing to consider is that Newcastle is due an overhaul in the summer. With a ton of investment coming in, the players currently on the roster will need to show they are worth sticking around. Thus, they could look for a massive game, such as this one, to prove their worth. With a young squad, there will be no shortage of motivation and while their table position is not in question, grabbing a win against Arsenal could be a massive confidence boost.
Why Arsenal Could Win This Match
Unfortunately for all Arsenal fans around the world, they did not manage to secure Champions League qualification versus Tottenham last week. They actually got demolished, with Spurs fans unhappy it was just three goals their team scored. Due to the youth in the squad of Arsenal, it would be unfair to expect that they are completely mentally ready for a game, but they will have to take the field of St James' Park this Monday and continue the fight they could have ended last week.
Still, even if we take into account the mental damage that this loss has done, Arsenal should be winning this game on all objective parameters. They are higher in the table, have a generally better squad, and the Gunners have everything to fight for. Getting into the Champions League for the first time since 2016 would mean a lot for these young players and for the fans of the club. An additional motivator is that, now, it is only between Spurs and Arsenal for that final Champions League spot.
As said above, Arsenal have a better squad and, more importantly, they have guys that can take over the game. Guys like Martin Odegaard, Buyako Saka, and, as of late, Eddie Nketiah, should be enough to take Arsenal over the edge. With all the motivation they can possibly get and with the knowledge that Spurs have won their game this weekend, Arsenal should be taking this game and moving that fight for fourth into the last round.
