Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win
Stroman is having a great year heading into this game. His ERA is just over 3.00, and he has given up just 75 hits in 91.1 innings pitched. The Yankees need Stroman to continue his great season in this one. The good news is Stroman has had two starts against the Blue Jays this season, and both have been good. In those two games, Stroman has combined for 11.1 innings, nine hits, 2 runs, and eight strikeouts. If he can have another good start against Toronto, the Yankees will win this game.
The Yankees have a good offense. With Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Anthony Volpe, and the rest, the Yankees have tough outs up and down the lineup. New York also has the third-best slugging percentage in the MLB. They are second in home runs, only behind the Orioles. If New York gets hot with their bats, they will win this game.
Why The Blue Jays Will Cover The Spread/Win
Yusei Kikuchi is having an average season if you look at his stats. However, he is dominating the Yankees in his two starts against them this season. In those two games, Kikuchi has thrown 11.1 innings, allowed eight hits, one run, and he has struck out 16 batters. Kikuchi should be able to continue that in this game with his ability to pitch against New York. If he does, the Blue Jays will come away with a win.
Toronto has to get to Stroman in this game. What they need to do is stay patient at the plate. The Blue Jays will take their walks, and they have to Friday night. Stroman has a high walk rate, low strikeout rate, and low whiff rate. The Blue Jays will have opportunities to put the ball in play, they just cant chase pitches. As long as Toronto takes their walks, they will win this game.
Final Yankees-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick
This is going to be a great pitching matchup. Both Stroman and Kikuchi have shut down the opposing team more than once this season, and I would not be surprised to see that happen again. I am going to ride with Stroman and the Yankees, though. I think they will come out on top as Stroman heads back to Toronto.
