The talk about college football expansion has been a big one with conferences expressing their intentions to move. The SEC is one conference that is looking to add teams in the next few years. And, according to Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports, the Big 12 is also eyeing some teams in hopes of expanding their conference as well.

“…the Big 12 is eyeing BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF if it expands following the departure of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC.”

So, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston are on the radar for the Big 12 as some other programs–such as Texas and Oklahoma– are set to make their departure and join the tough SEC. However, the SEC's expansion seems a lot closer than a potential Big 12 one, so this could be quite a ways away.

Nonetheless, losing Oklahoma and Texas and replacing them with any of those schools would undoubtedly be a talent dropoff, although all four programs have big followings, which would surely help the case.

This situation is likely to create a massive domino effect, especially with a couple of those schools potentially leaving their pwn conferences. The American Athletic Conference (AAC) is home to a few, and they would then need to look for viable replacements if this indeed ends up falling through.
