The Golden State Warriors are one of the top-ranked teams in the NBA, and the trade deadline is approaching swiftly. This team is built for speed, versatility, and shooting, but when it comes to size they are a small team. A trade to get more length would cover the Dubs' biggest need, but it's easier said than done.

The Bay Area's team has had many surprises this season and most of them have benefitted Golden State. They have held the first or second-best record in the NBA, since the start of the season, and although they lack in size they have managed to be a top rebounding team. They currently rank third in the NBA in rebounds with 46.6 per game, according to NBA.com.

During the offseason, they've added Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter Jr, Nemanja Bjelica, Chris Chiozza, and rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. Everyone on the roster has contributed to the success of this year's team. These players help make the Warriors one of the deepest teams in the league. Some fans are probably thinking there is always room for improvement, and that's true.

The Warriors are 36-13 with a roster that isn't at full strength. Klay Thompson just returned to the lineup, but in the process, they lost Draymond Green, and that's not all. The entire season the Warriors have been without the only 7-foot player on the roster, James Wiseman. There is hope Green could be back with the team soon, but when it comes to the big man it might not be as quickly as the team would like. That validates the need for more size at the trade deadline.

The main problem is the Warriors don't have any big pieces for a blockbuster trade. It would have to be a small strategic transaction. That still will be challenging for the Dubs to perform. If the team decided to make a move they would be giving away a key piece. The player they bring in would have to be a guy who fits immediately, or the team could be in jeopardy of ruining the squad's chemistry on the back end of the season.

The move that makes the most sense, is checking out who's available immediately after the trade deadline, in the buyout market. Every season a top team finds a way to grab a former All-Star or big-name player via a buyout. That is likely the route the Warriors will go and it makes the most sense.

Size is definitely a concern especially against some of the better teams with dominating centers, but the Warriors do have Wiseman who should return before the postseason. All season the Warriors have been without their only true center, and they aren't lacking statistically anywhere a big man would help, so it's no need to panic.

The Dubs shouldn't make a move unless the deal is too good to be true. Strange things happen every year around this time so you wouldn't be crazy if you are expecting the unexpected. That's the beauty of the NBA trade deadline.
