Josh Allen has been likened to Cam Newton and other mobile quarterbacks before, but Brett Favre believes he could follow the footsteps of arguably the greatest quarterback of all time. In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Favre said that Allen could be the “new Tom Brady” with the Buffalo Bills.

“His time is now and I think it's going to be for quite a while,” Favre said of the Bills quarterback, via CBS Sports. “I think Josh Allen will be the new Tom Brady, at some point, he will be running the division. I believe that.”

Tom Brady laid waste to the AFC East while he was with the New England Patriots. Altogether, in Brady's legendary career in New England, Brady led the Patriots to 17 division titles in his 19 years as the starter.

The only two years he didn't win the AFC East was his second season as the starter and when he tore his ACL in 2008. Therefore, once Brady left the Patriots to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, everyone in the AFC East rejoiced.

And even though it is impossible to count out Bill Belichick, the Bills were viewed as the next team to take the throne in the division. More specifically, Allen was expected to take a massive leap forward and propel Buffalo to contention in the AFC.

Through the first four weeks of the season, Allen has lived up to expectations, throwing for 1,326 yards, 15 total touchdowns, and one interception. Besides Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers, Allen is considered one of the favorites to win the NFL's MVP award in 2020.

It's going to be hard for anyone to replicate what Brady did, winning six Super Bowls and 17 division titles in the AFC East. Nevertheless, Favre is confident that Allen can be the next quarterback in the AFC East that can dominate for years to come.
