Even though the Buffalo Bills are being discussed as favorites to win the AFC East in 2020, some people are skeptical of Josh Allen leading the team to success. While the expectations are sky-high, Sean McDermott exclaimed that Allen will still have to silence his doubters.

“Well, I think that's understandable,” he said, via the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. “Until you're able to silence that, it's going to continue to come up. I think at the end of the day Josh wants to prove himself inside the building first and I think he continues to do that and show his teammates who he is and what he's capable of.”

With Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots, the crown in the AFC East could finally be up for grabs. Seeing that Buffalo has a playoff-ready roster, many are picking them to dethrone the Patriots. However, the team's success solely relies on the development of Allen.

In his first two seasons with the Bills, Allen has shown improvement from time to time. But the former first-round pick still has holes in his game that could prevent Buffalo from reaching their ultimate goal.

Nonetheless, the Bills have done the best job they can to put Allen in the best position to succeed. After adding John Brown and Cole Beasley last offseason, Buffalo acquired Stefon Diggs via trade this offseason.

Throughout the offseason, there has been an ongoing conversation about Allen's potential moving forward. While some believe Allen can evolve into a reliable franchise quarterback, some believe the jury is still out on the big-armed passer. Coach McDermott is of the belief that Allen will need to prove himself before his critics are drowned out.
