Von Miller, in his first time in free agency, joined a team that is ready to compete for a Super Bowl. It just wasn't the one anyone was expecting. With the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos looking like the most likely destinations, he signed with the Buffalo Bills.

How did Buffalo lure him away from both his-long time home and the team he just won a Super Bowl with? According to ESPN's Alaia Getzenberg, Miller said that he needed to go somewhere special. He found that in the Bills.

“When I left Denver and I went to LA, I said I'm not going back. I said I'm not leaving,” Miller said. “And it had to be something special. It had to be the Buffalo Bills. What they've created here — it had to be the Bills Mafia. This environment that they've created here, it drawed me away from that. It's not gonna be the weather. The weather is gonna be the weather. But what they're doing inside this facility, what they're doing in this community, what they're doing on the football field and off the football field, man, I had to be a part of that.”

Landing Miller shows just how incredible the Bills really are. The Rams just won the Super Bowl and the Broncos added Russell Wilson to a strong roster. Both of those teams could offer Miller the chance at another ring and offer some familiarity. Ultimately, he sought to try something new.

The Bills already had a strong chance to make a deep playoff run but with so many other AFC teams loading up, they need to do the same. Bringing in Miller should bolster an already fantastic defense and help bring a title to Buffalo.
