The Buffalo Bills did what they could to shore up some depth under center this offseason. As a result, they have a bit of a quarterback battle brewing between AJ McCarron, Nathan Peterman, and Josh Allen.

Surprisingly, Peterman is the one that has reportedly been turning heads thus far in practice. According to NFL reporter Benjamin Albright, he is using his abysmal first career start as motivation to get better ahead of the 2018 season:

Conversation with a Bills source who says Nathan Peterman “…has looked the best so far [at QB]. That [5 INT] game was such a professional embarrassment, it's been motivating him ever since…”

It goes without saying that Peterman endured a rough career debut under center. The Bills went through a rough stretch during the 2017 campaign and decided to mix things up by benching quarterback Tyrod Taylor in favor of the rookie. Unfortunately, Peterman went on to have the worst game imaginable by throwing five interceptions in the first half, which tied an NFL record for most in a player's first career start.

Things did not get much better for Peterman the rest of the year. The Bills' season eventually ended on an interception thrown by him in their Wild Card loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fortunately, Peterman has seemingly managed to get over his disastrous rookie campaign with an impressive showing in organized team activities. Buffalo acquired McCarron and Allen this offseason with the hopes of bringing in a potential franchise quarterback, but it appears that Peterman will get another opportunity to redeem himself this season.
