Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum took to Twitter to congratulate his backcourt teammate Damian Lillard on the four-year, $196 million supermax contract extension, reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Lillard and McCollum could be spending much more time together as the prosperous duo has shot lights out while sharing the backcourt. Lillard, McCollum and the Blazers made the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history since the 1999-00 season.

McCollum, also a podcaster and journalism advocate in his spare time away from the hardwood, has seen upticks in statistics in recent seasons and has turned himself into an integral part of Portland’s core, alongside Lillard.
McCollum averaged 21 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists last season in 70 contests and 33.9 minutes per game, while shooting 45.9% from the field, 37.5% from three-point range, and 82.8% from the charity stripe.
The smooth-shooting righty from Ohio went to Lehigh University for four years, playing in the lesser-known Patriot League. Lillard, like McCollum, played at a mid-major conference collegiate team, at Weber State. The duo has blossomed into one of the most lethal offensive backcourts in the NBA, and Lillard's deal ensures they will stay together for years to come.
