In an absolutely not at all shocking development, scandalous Louisville Cardinals football coach Bobby Petrino would like it if the school did not fire currently embroiled in scandal AD Tom Jurich.

All. The. Giggles.

“I can't say enough about what he's meant to me and my family,” Petrino said of Jurich after his team's 55-10 win over Murray State on Saturday. “Besides being my boss, he's a real close friend, so we're hoping he'll be back.”

You might remember Bobby Petrino from such hits as getting busted for adultery after a motorcycle accident, or leaving the Atlanta Falcons without any notice, or showing up to a presser in a neck-brace and being defiant.

He is to college football at Louisville to what Rick Pitino is to college basketball at Louisville and none of that is meant as a compliment.

It is why, really, the idea of keeping Tom Jurich around seems so silly. He is the man who literally put in charge two coaches forever in the middle of scandalous situations. If UL wants to get out of such a debacle, keeping that guy seems counterproductive.

It is also worth noting that this is unlikely altruistic by Petrino. His buy-out drops significantly (by half) if Jurich is shown the door. He has monetary reasons to want him to stay employed by the university.

“I haven't thought anything about that at all,” Petrino said when asked about his future. “What I'm focused on is our football team. I love our football team. I love the university. I love the city of Louisville. We've made plans to spend the rest of our career here.”

Who believes him?
