Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was not a happy man after witnessing the controversial Juan Francisco Estrada versus Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez rematch on Saturday night. The six-time All-Star expressed his disappointment for the result of the bout after Estrada came out on top against his Nicaraguan counterpart by way of a split-decision victory.
117-111!? No F’n way… I had chocolatito winning that

Damian Lillard doubled down on his stance as he retweeted a post made by boxing promoter Lou DiBella who was also in support of Gonzalez.
⬇️Simply a heinous scorecard. Sorry, but it also wasn’t “anyone’s fight”. I think the overwhelming number of viewers know who really won. If we continue tolerating this kind of bullshit, we’ll never change the corrupt system that allows and causes it. #boxing https://t.co/gHVnzfLMMh

The two fighters were eager to face off in the squared circle after waiting for more than eight years for their rematch bout to materialize. Estrada was determined to avenge his loss against Gonzalez in their first encounter dating back to November of 2012. Damian Lillard was, apparently, eager to watch.
It turned out to be a slugfest as both of them traded a total of 2,529 punches in a thrilling match which broke the record in a super flyweight match. Gonzalez had the advantage on the striking department as he landed 391 out of 1,317 punches as compared to Estrada who only completed 314-of-1,212.
Despite Gonzalez's better accuracy, Estrada still gained favor in the judges' eyes as he garnered 115-113, 117-111, and 113-115 in the scorecards. By way of a nail-biting split-decision victory, the 30-year-old Mexican fighter was able to take home the WBA, the WBC, and The Ring junior bantamweight titles in the unification bout.
After the match, Estrada improved his overall record to 42-3 while Gonzalez slipped to a 50-3 win-loss tally. With their matchup coming to a stalemate at 1-1, a third contest is expected to come to fruition and fans can expect another action-packed fight when the time comes. Nonetheless, Damian Lillard is having none of this, even if the fight itself was an overall good one. Time will tell what happens next. Perhaps a third fight.
