Ryan Garcia has been through some tough moments and has never been afraid to talk about his mental health. The talented boxing star recently opened up on his scary battle with depression.
Ryan Garcia recently spoke out on how bad things got for him. The boxing star even considered committing suicide.




“When I was deep in it, I didn't think I was gonna live,” Garcia said in an interview with Dan Canobbio on Inside Boxing Live. “I was so depressive and I went to bad habits. I started drinking, and I never drink, ever.”
He continued … “But I was getting drunk all the time. I wanted to kill myself at one point.”
Things got really bad for Ryan Garcia and he felt like there were too many things going on at once. Looking back, his management of stress was something that hurt him.
There was a point when Ryan Garcia felt overwhelmed and didn't understand what was going on. The boxing star eventually got to the point where he'd just rather not be alive.
“It was so bad, so intense, that I thought maybe I just rather not be here,'” Garcia said. “I didn’t understand what was going on. I needed professional help.”
Things are much better for Ryan Garcia today and he even has a boxing match set for April 9 against Emmanuel Tagoe. He had previously taken time off from the sport in order to deal with his issues and get back to where he needed to be mentally.
