Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, made headlines recently over wanting to legally drop her surname. Instead of having both her parents last names hyphenated, the 18-year-old wishes to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie.

A source spoke to Entertainment Tonight on how Brad feels about his daughter's wishes.
“Brad has always loved being a father and loves his children,” a source told the publication.

“This situation is upsetting to him,” the source adds, “and he recognizes that things have been difficult for him and the whole family.”

Angelina and Brad have six children together. They adopted three — sons Maddox, 22, and Pax, 20, and daughter Zahara, 19 and have three biological children together including Shiloh, and twins Vivienne, 15 and Knox, 15.

The couple dated since 2005 and later got married in 2014. However, two years later, the Salt actress filed for divorce from Brad following an alleged physical and verbal fight on a plane when their children were present. The two have been in and out of court since 2014 as they negotiate property, businesses, potential child support and more.

While Shiloh is the only Pitt-Jolie to legally fight to change her name, in a resurfaced clip, her older sister Zahara introduced herself to her sorority line as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie,” she said in a resurfaced clip. “Coming all the way from the Golden State in the city that is full of angels, Los Angeles, California. … I am this line’s number seven.”

Zahara was pledging for the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Atlanta’s Spelman College in 2023.

Their younger sister Vivienne also took her older sister's lead and was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” as she co-produced the Broadway production of The Outsiders, alongside Angelina.

Shiloh filed the legal paperwork to get her name changed on her 18th birthday May 27. The request has yet to be formally approved by a judge. At this time, none of their other children has

“Brad has made a tremendous effort to grow and learn from all of his experiences,” a source tells ET. “He would love to find a way to continue to do this, repair things with his kids, and for everyone to get to a better place.”
