The Denver Broncos were legitimately hoping the hiring of former Green Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their next head coach would help them persuade star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to join the organization this offseason. Unfortunately, those dreams were crushed on Tuesday when the reigning MVP reportedly inked a 4-year, $200 million deal with the Packers.
Following the announcement, Broncos wideout Jerry Jeudy reacted to Rodgers running it back with Green Bay. It was a reaction that needed little explanation:

Can you blame Jeudy? He just wants a proven star throwing him passes. Many thought the Broncos would have a shot at signing Rodgers, but that's not going to happen now. While Green Bay didn't listen to any trade offers for the signal-caller, Denver was reportedly ready to go all-in to get Rodgers in order to really make them a contender.
The quarterback position remains a real toss-up for the Broncos. They finished 19th in the NFL in passing yards last season and put up just 19.7 points per game. Teddy Bridgewater did a respectable job, but adding a player of Aaron Rodgers' caliber to the mix would undoubtedly make them an immediate playoff team.
I guess it just wasn't meant to be for Denver.
