The Denver Broncos used their first couple of picks on wide receivers in this year's NFL Draft, trading up to take Alabama's Jerry Jeudy at No. 15 and then nabbing Penn State's KJ Hamler in the second round.

The Broncos have garnered largely universal praise for their decisions, as Jeudy is viewed by some as the best wide out in this draft class and Hamler has blinding speed.

As a matter of fact, Hamler has compared himself to another certain NFL speedster:

“DeSean Jackson is the main guy I play like,” Hamler said during a conference call with reporters late last month, per Jon Heath of Broncos Wire. “I’ve been hearing that since I was younger. He’s my favorite player. Him and Steve Smith are the people I look up to. From a playmaking ability, from taking a slant 60 yards for a touchdown and stuff like that, I think me and DeSean are very similar. DeSean Jackson is my favorite player.”

There are certainly some similarities between Hamler and Jackson. That includes their draft positioning, as Hamler was taken 46th overall by the Broncos and Jackson was chosen with the 49th pick by the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2008.

Hamler, who did not run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a tweaked hamstring, has said he has run a 4.27-second 40-yard dash before.

The 20-year-old spent two seasons at Penn State, arriving in 2018 and catching 42 passes for 754 yards and five touchdowns during his freshman year. He followed that up by hauling in 56 receptions for 904 yards and eight scores in his sophomore campaign. The Broncos are obviously excited to have him.
