The Cleveland Browns, along with the rest of the NFL, attended the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. 2022 NFL Draft prospects spent the week proving themselves as potential additions to the 32 teams. However, the Browns made it clear that they are focused on their quarterback being Baker Mayfield moving forward.

Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot reported the news Thursday afternoon.

The team does not plan on drafting a quarterback to replace Mayfield, and they also don't want a veteran to take his place. According to Cabot, both general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Mayfield is the Browns' starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Cabot reported that Berry even said that he expects Mayfield to “return to a playoff-caliber level” in 2022.

Mayfield began his offseason earlier than the rest of his team to get a head start on his recovery process. The 26-year-old underwent surgery on his non-throwing arm in January. The procedure corrected the torn labrum (shoulder) that he suffered in the Browns' Week 2 win over the Houston Texans. The injury advanced in their Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but Mayfield remained the starter all season.

Many other teams declared their loyalty to their quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Miami Dolphins announced that they are dedicated to Tua Tagovailoa, while the Philadelphia Eagles doubled down on their stance with franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts.
