Ahead of their matchup with the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, the Cleveland Browns made a move which sent some shockwaves throughout their team and the rest of the NFL for that matter. After six years, the Browns let it be known they'll part ways with troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon.

Star defensive end Myles Garrett was asked about the team's decision to part ways with Gordon, via Herbie Teope of NFLcom.

“Nobody was expecting that,” defensive end Myles Garrett said. “You walk in and hear that, that's big news.”

Head coach Hue Jackson also addressed the team's decision to release Gordon on Sunday. Jackson had gone with a no-nonsense approach with his team and that seems to be abundantly clear this year by trading Corey Coleman recently and

“I told them last night. Nobody flinched, they understood it. Again, we wish Josh well on his journey and we all love and respect Josh, but we had to do what we felt we had to do as an organization.”

With the team now having moved on from Gordon, the Browns might be on the lookout for a wide receiver to fill the void. This could prompt the team to get aggressive in their pursuit of veteran Dez Bryant. The two sides were thought to eventually come to an agreement on a deal before the season started, but nothing came to fruition.

As for Gordon, he'll have to hope another team is willing to take a chance on him after so many instances in which he became a problem off-the-field for Cleveland. The San Francisco 49ers might be his next destination with general manager John Lynch admitting to being interested in the veteran wideout.
