The Cleveland Browns have already swung some big trades this offseason to acquire stars Tyrod Taylor and Jarvis Landry. And they may be considering making another one, this time for Oakland Raiders star Khalil Mack.

According to Josh Edwards of The Orange and Brown Report, the Browns have had discussions with Raiders about a possible trade for the superstar pass rusher.

Mack and the Raiders have reportedly not made any progress on a new contract, which could see him sit out regular season games.

The impression around the league is that the Raiders, who have gotten calls about a Mack trade, are looking for two first-round picks but are not motivated to do a deal just yet. The Jets have reportedly reached out to the Raiders about Mack, while the Packers have also been strongly linked.

If the Browns actually do have a strong interest in trading for Mack, it would be a curious decision. After all, they had the chance to take one of the top rushers in this year’s draft in Bradley Chubb, but they passed on him to take cornerback Denzel Ward at No. 4.

While Chubb might not ever be the player Mack already is, he’s younger and would have been a significantly cheaper option. Not only would Mack cost a couple of first-rounders just to acquire, but he would also demand over $20 million per year on his next contract.

But if the Browns could somehow make a deal for Mack happen, they would suddenly form quite a formidable edge rushing combination with Mack and former No. 1 pick Myles Garrett. Although it would be costly, it could help make that defense among the very best in the league.
