Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield recently spoke on the diss the team received from Detroit Lions' CJ Gardner-Johnson. A classic quarterback versus cornerback beef ahead of a playoff game is exactly what the fans want to see. Gardner-Johnson is known for calling out opposing players or teams with his history of trash-talking. Mayfield decided to clap back at the Lions defensive back after Gardner-Johnson dissed the quarterback play in Tampa.

“I don't think he's really watched film because he mentioned Russell Gage,” said Mayfield, per Greg Auman at FOX Sports… “We love Russell, but Russell hasn't played a snap all year for us. He must be going off the preseason stuff the media was talking about but, he didn't play in our first game so I'm excited to see him. He has been for a while. He's been an impactful guy on every team he's been on so he's a good player but you got to do a little bit more film study.”

The Lions will host the Buccaneers in the second round of the playoff after Tampa Bay dominated the Eagles at home. This will be a matchup with two versatile offenses that have ability to throw the deep ball, but can also control the game on the ground with elite offensive lines.

It's bound to be a high-scoring bout between Mayfield and Lions quarterback Jared Goff. The Buccaneers are the underdogs in this matchup heading into Ford Field with the Lions riding an all-time high. If Gardner-Johnson can get into the skin of Mayfield and cause the Buccaneers to give up some offensive possessions, the game is in the hands of the Lions.
