Gerald McCoy spent four seasons as Jameis Winston's teammate with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But upon joining the Carolina Panthers last year, McCoy said he took the utmost pleasure in sacking Winston.

McCoy took to Instagram earlier this week, where he spoke about leaving the Buccaneers to join the Panthers. The former All-Pro said he felt better sacking Winston than “any other quarterback.”

McCoy racked up 2.5 sacks against the Buccaneers in Week 6. It was an all-round nightmare of a game for Winston, who threw five interceptions and fumbled twice.

This might sound like a pot-shot at Winston, but the former teammates remain close. McCoy praised Winston back in 2016, calling him a “brother,” via Matt Fitzgerald of Bleacher Report.

“I love Jameis, man,” McCoy said, per Laine. “The day after he got drafted, I went to both his parents and told them, ‘I'm going to take care of him. Don't worry about him. When you get on that plane and go home, I got him.' I love him, man. He's like my brother.”

Perhaps it was the brotherly love which made sacking Winston that much sweeter.

While Winston will spend the 2020 season as a backup for Drew Brees in New Orleans, the Dallas Cowboys are hoping McCoy can regain his All-Pro form. Dallas signed McCoy to a three-year deal in free agency and will need him to account for some lost production after Robert Quinn signed with the Chicago Bears.

McCoy had 5.0 sacks with the Panthers last season. He might not be the same menace he was in Tampa, but McCoy can still rush the passer.
